I have decided to create a fresh new look for my blog this year. I hope you like this new format. 

I have been so incredibly busy creating art at the art table for my clients that I have been very much behind on giving you an update to what is going on in my calligraphy studio.

Here is a sneak preview on what projects have been created and carried out by clients with big smiles on their faces. 

I will try to keep my blogs fresh with regular updates. 

It is becoming quite busy again with wedding invitations, as well as the monthly certificates.

This is the time of year, where we experience the beautiful colours nature gives us before going to sleep for the winter. I love those pleasant drives into the country side, taking it all in and capturing the scenic pictures.

It has been incredible busy and I now would like to share with you some of the recent projects done in my calligraphy studio.
There has been projects for the corporate events for the TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival) followed by the Finance Convention for Deutcshe Bank; a wedding ketubah; poems; quotes; a name inscribed on the side of a model ship; anniversary card; college diplomas; teaching calligraphy lessons, and how about this? I designed a tattoo as well! (done many designs)

Wow! Sure shows how hand done calligraphy is very much in demand with today’s technology.

I have worked on major events in the city in September as mentioned above. There was the annual TIFF, specifically giving me the privilege and honour to inscribe a celebrity’s name on her place card for a corporate dinner, Madonna!!

Following the TIFF, was the big Finance Convention, bringing 8,000 guests to our city of Toronto for the week. This is like the “Olympics” in the world of Finances with world banks coming together. This year it was hosted by Toronto. I serviced the Deutsche Bank’s dinner place seating cards for their VIPs held at the Carlu.

An interesting ketubah project arrived, with the mother of the bride being an artist herself. She provided the art done for the border on the ketubah, and then I had the honour to complete the ketubah to hand write the wedding vows. Here is what this finished piece looked like.

The lovely art work was done by Nancy Frankel and here I also showed a closer look at the calligraphy that I did to complete this beautiful piece. Together it was a lovely creation combining 2 artists’ work beautifully. What great energy this piece gave!!

I look forward to servicing you, whether it is for your wedding, enhance your corporate event, or have your favorite poem completed in beautifully hand done calligraphy, it is both an honour and privilege to do so. I take a great deal of pride in bringing to life, how you envisioned your project to look.

I love creating with brides on how they want to convey their wedding invitations to their invited guests. Afterall, this is the first thing the guests see as an insight on what kind of wedding this will be. Invitations set the stage and when done by hand, it definitely sets the tone for the wedding, with a touch of class and elegance.

When invitations are done by hand, it is limitless! The bride and I have fun creating it and it’s a priviledge for me to be a part of it!!

I am featuring weddings in this blog, showing you samples of what one can do.

Above are samples of invitation stationery. On the left side this is completely hand written in the Chancery style in black ink. On the right the stationery is done with Ornate Cursive style in grey ink.

Above on the left side is what can be done when you combine Calligraphy and beautiful Letterpress in grey ink. On the right side, is a sample of an addressed invitation done in grey ink in the Ornate Cursive style. So if you have already chosen your invitations, and you use calligraphy just for addressing the envelopes; imagine what your guests will think when they see this in their mailbox.

Menus, place cards, programs, table seating charts, they are all icing on the cake when you present this done by hand. It makes your guests feel that much more special. There is real magic that takes place, when one sees their name beautifully written.

I had the honour and priviledge to service CNE again this year, by inscribing into their archival book that is over 100 years old. In this book I created a page to commemorate the Canadian Navy Marine’s 100th anniversary. Commodore Daniel Sing opened CNE this year. I also had the priviledge to be there for the opening ceremony, and to have my picture taken with him and the President of CNE, while signing the book.  Here are some pictures.

This past week I completed certificates; corporate event placecards;  addressed envelopes for weddings; an artistically done scroll for a high school reunion and taught many students calligraphy.

It has been a very highly productive week, and shown here is the scroll that I completed on a very rush basis. It made it quite intense while working on it, as there was no time for any error to occur. So I had to make sure all went well perfectly the first time! It turned out very nice, and the client who I serviced on a long distance basis, was very thrilled to receive her package by UPS and on time for the event.

This week I am focusing on completing a corporate presentation that I need to complete and get to the printers & frame the piece for their presentation in Niagara Falls. I also have a big wedding to address envelopes, and many more projects arriving this week.

There has been a huge influx of weddings to address envelopes, consultations for complete packages, and recently brought in a 70th birthday celebration! I have noticed a huge change regarding when brides are getting married. It’s becoming popular to get married in late summer and fall, thus the busy wedding traffic at this time. I think brides find the weather more reliable at this time. Just an observation, I wanted to share.

The Crave Book Launch was very successful with over 350 who came by to help celebrate on May 5th, 2010 at Berber Lounge – 49 Front St East from 7pm to 10pm in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. What a beautiful new venue this place is. I highly recommend checking this place out for an intimate evening of dinner or drinks. Congrats to Maria Bogdova who won my door prize, a 25% discount on any of my calligraphy services that also came with a bottle of wine! Maria will be meeting with me to see what project she would like done in calligraphy. Congratulations, Maria!!  

Throughout the evening, guests that came to see me, received a personalized bookmark with their names inscribed. This gift was very well received, in fact, they were thrilled! There is a special kind of magic that goes with seeing you name written beautifully. Many gathered around to watch me do the calligraphy, and to receive their own. It was a pleasure and an honour to do this for everyone there.

As a side note, following my last blog, in my personal life, I mentioned my niece competing in the Miss North Ontario Pageant. Congrats to my beautiful niece, Taylor Foisy, who represented Miss Teen Sault Ste. Marie with her style and grace! She is now qualified for the Miss Teen Sault Ste. Marie World Canada Pageant in Toronto in July, 2010!! We have a busy summer lined up! We’re all so proud of you sweetie!!

I have been quite busy with weddings at this time. Completed another wedding yesterday with many more weddings to do. A book inscription has been completed that required 13 names and dates on 3 pages. A rush arrived today for over 100 place seating cards that is needed in 3 days. Amongst all of my work and services, I teach private calligraphy lessons as well.  I have another new student registering this week for lessons.

I have an upcoming 2 day workshop that I will be teaching an introductory level of calligraphy at Sault College, in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada on the weekend of May 1st and 2nd. Registration begins on March 31st.
